The Design
Akiko Tutlys is an interior designer and architect originally from Japan, who has been living in Lithuania for over 15 years. She began her professional journey in Japan, working in the field of interior design. After meeting her future husband, Lithuanian Mindaugas, they decided to move to Lithuania together.
Her work reflects a delicate fusion of Japanese aesthetics and Western design, embodying a harmonious balance between tradition and modernity.
The architect emphasizes that while Westerners often romanticize Japan as a country deeply connected to nature, in reality, many Japanese people live in densely populated cities where space is limited. This experience allows her to better understand the nuances of both cultures and incorporate them into her projects, aiming to create functional, aesthetically pleasing, and inviting spaces.
